Mountain Fruit bats
This monospecific genus is a member of Cynopterine group of fruit bats. The tail is absent and the interfemoral membrane is reduced to a narrow rim along the femur and upper part of each tibia, consequently there is no calcar. There are only a relatively few small odontoid papillae on the inner side of the lips; this differs markedly from the numerous, large and crowded papillae of other Cynopterine bats. The rostrum is long and low anteriorly with the premaxillae directed obliquely forward. The postorbital processes are small (Fig. 29); the zygomata are thin and nearly horizontal and the sagittal crest is undeveloped. The incisors are proclivous, with their crowns triangularly pointed, differing from the simple peg-like incisors of other Cynopterine bats. The canines, above and below, are slanted outwards. The premolars and molars are relatively narrow.
