the dental formula consists of the total number of different teeth in the upper and lower jaw, indicated by the presence or absence of each pair.

i = incisor (3 pairs maximum)
c = canines (1 pair)
pm = premolar (3 of 4 pairs maximum, in bats 1st pair always absent)
m = molar (3 pairs maximum)
