The tragus and antitragus are essentially obsolete (BW24a). The skull has a well defined post orbital plate on each zygoma (Fig. 126). The tympanic bullae are elongated and in contact with the pterygoids. The basioccipital pits are well defined with overhanging edges. M3 is not reduced; it is complete with four cusps and connecting commissures (Fig. 127).

The genus includes 6 species locally distributed in Africa, India, Indonesia and New Guinea (Kitchener et al., 1992; Koopman, 1993).
